Funerals often urge people to live better, do more, and trust that God will reward their efforts. The Gospel at the Graveside shows that this is another gospel. Scripture declares that we are spiritually dead in sin, unable to save ourselves. Our only hope is God's sovereign grace in Jesus Christ, who alone can make dead sinners alive and carry them safely from the grave to glory.
