Our Story
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. The Day of Small Things
University Community Church (UCC) was planted on February 9, 2014, by Jimmy and Phionah Okello, near Gulu University. It began with just six people and a clear vision: to reach university students with the gospel, disciple them during their time on campus, and equip them to bring transformation wherever they go.
UCC was born out of a conviction that students are key to shaping the future of Uganda and beyond. By making disciples of Christ at the university level, the church seeks to raise leaders who will impact their families, communities, and nations.
From its beginning, UCC has been a Christ-centred, gospel-driven, and mission-oriented church. Our focus remains on glorifying God by making disciples, reaching the campus, and transforming nations.
Today, UCC continues to grow as a vibrant spiritual home for students, young professionals, and missionaries in Gulu, committed to seeing lives changed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

University Community Church (UCC) is a Christ-centered Baptist church in Gulu that exists to glorify God by making disciples, engaging the campus, and transforming the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are a family of believers passionate about seeing lives changed by the power of the gospel, starting at Gulu University, reaching into Gulu City, and extending to the nations.
At UCC, we believe church is more than a Sunday service, it’s a community where you can know Jesus deeply, grow in faith, and serve others.
